Kata kunci: kulit jeruk, daun mint, formulasi, pasta gigi, Streptococcus mutans  ABSTRACT Orange peels are wasted waste that is underutilized, but has antibacterial activity. Oil derived from mint leaves is widely used as a mouth freshener. The combination of these two plants has not been much formulated in the form of toothpaste preparations. The purpose of this study was to obtain a toothpaste formula containing extracts of orange peel and mint leaves extract which has the activity of inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria as a cause of plaque on teeth. Extraction method by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent. The extract obtained was subjected to phytochemical screening and then formulated in the form of toothpaste by comparing the amount of both extracts on the same basis. Antibacterial activity of toothpaste preparations using the diffusion method in print hole. The results showed that orange peel extract had a yield of 8.27% and contained secondary metabolites of phenolic compounds and flavonoids while mint leaves extract had a yield of 4.53% and contained secondary metabolites of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. Both extracts can be formulated in toothpaste dosage forms and are stable in storage. All formulas had a inhibitory effect on the growth of Streptococcus mutans and showed a significant difference at p <0.05. Toothpaste formula that provides the higher inhibition is found in FII which contains 10% mint leaf extract. Keyword: orange peels, mint leaves, formulation, toothpaste, Streptococcus mutan
