Abstract

Kata Kunci: Protein, Cacing Tanah, Spektrofotometri, Metode Lowry  Typhoid fever is a disease that affects Indonesian people with 500 cases per 100,000 population with a mortality rate of 5%. The main treatment for typhoid fever is the use of various antibiotics. However, Indonesian people prefer to use alternative or traditional medicine. One of the traditional medicines for typhoid fever is earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus) extract which has a protein content of up to 71%. Protein content is highly dependent on the production process. For this reason, preparation and analysis methods are needed to determine protein levels that can be used to guarantee the quality of the worm extract products. The optimum preparation method is by heating at 50°C for 5 minutes and then the protein is analyzed using the Lowry's method using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wavelength of 650.8 nm. The method is linear, accurat and presice with  detection limit of 0.18 mg/mL and quantification limit of 0.58 mg/mL.
